The Capital Campaign target for the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre for Science has been achieved, thanks to the generosity of the Scotch Family. Over 1200 members of the Scotch Family have generously committed $20M to the project. The Centre was opened to acclaim on Thursday 6th October 2016, the School’s 165th birthday.

The Sir Zelman Cowen Centre for Science is the first in a series of extensive works that will transform the School. These developments are premised on the ongoing conversations of learning which underpin our educational strategy.

With the completion of the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre for Science, the School, supported by the School Council, is commencing the next stage of its Development Plan by turning its focus to the emerging power of Design and Technology, and the challenges and opportunities of a disruptive world.

Design and Technology, which is currently taught in three facilities, will be consolidated in a new centre at the south-west corner of the Glenn Centre, offering a home for the innovation and enterprise that will assist to fuel our future economic prosperity. Making use of a dormant site, this new building will help establish a coherent STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) precinct, linking the Sir Zelman Cowen Centre for Science, the teaching of Mathematics, the Art department, and the facilities of the Grounds and Maintenance department.
